Ο σκηνοθέτης Wes Ball δίνει νέα πνοή στο παγκόσμιο, επικό franchise που διαδραματίζεται στο μέλλον, μετά τη βασιλεία του Καίσαρα, όπου οι πίθηκοι είναι το κυρίαρχο είδος και ζουν αρμονικά μεταξύ τους ενώ οι άνθρωποι ζουν περιορισμένοι και κρυμμένοι. Καθώς ένας νέος τύραννος ηγέτης πίθηκος χτίζει την αυτοκρατορία του, ένας νεαρός πίθηκος ξεκινά ένα οδυνηρό ταξίδι που θα τον κάνει να αμφισβητήσει όλα όσα γνώριζε για το παρελθόν και να κάνει επιλογές που θα καθορίσουν το μέλλον τόσο για τους πιθήκους όσο και για τους ανθρώπους.
